Promo Codes can be assigned to discounts. This is helpful when running specials or campaigns so you can accurately report where your discounts are coming from. When a customer comes in with a promo code, they can inform the restaurant employee who will then add it onto the check.
To configure a Promo Code, navigate to Discounts under the Payments section of Toast's back end.
Create a new discount or select an existing discount to view and edit the discount's properties.
Confirm the discount's properties, then scroll to Promotional Code. Enter the promo code using letters and/or numerical digits. Save and publish your changes.
New in 2.11:
Attach a scannable promo code to any new or existing discounts.
On any discount, you may scan or enter the barcode into the Promotional Code field. This Promotional Code may also be a text promo code such as STUDENT25.
Promo Codes are supported in Toast Online Ordering when they are applied at the Check-Level. They are not supported online for Item-Level discounts. (We plan to add this sometime in 2017).
On the device:
If a promo code has a barcode attached to it and can be applied to the entire check, select Dscnt, choose the discount, and scan the barcode.
If the promo barcode is attached to a specific item (or any item in a specific menu group), select the line item and scan the barcode. The promotional discount will be applied.
Scan the promo barcode or type in the code into the text field.
Once selected, the discount will appear as a line item.
Note: To remove a discount, deselect the discount's button by tapping it once.
Note: The USB scanner acts essentially as a physical keyboard. To enable this peripheral on the tablet, Navigate to the Android Settings and click on the Language & input.
Under Keyboard & Input Methods select Default, and turn OFF the setting for hardware (physical keyboard).
