It is important for restaurants to be able to control the order that modifiers appear in the POS and in the kitchen. In Toast 2.4, modifiers can be placed in order of preference, regardless of whether they're required or optional.
First, navigate to UI Options and select Yes to enable Modifier Ordering Priority.
For example, Steak Sirloin has two modifier groups: Temperature (Optional) and Side Choice (Required). The temperature needs to appear first.
Note that there are two ways to configure modifier ordering priority. It can be done by clicking into the modifier group in the back-end of Toast, but it is recommended that Advanced Properties is used. Go to Advanced Properties in the Menu section of the Toast back-end.
Select Modifier Ordering Priority from the Show/Hide drop-down list.
Expand out each section until you can see the modifier groups.
Enter the order in the Order Priority section. Lowest numbers are highest priority. If you don't enter a number, that modifier group is made last priority. Be sure to save and publish when complete.
