Setting up new printers in Toast is only a few clicks away on the Toast backend.
Navigate to the Printers setup page:
Here is a view of the printers that have been created already. To add a printer, click Add.
Provide the printer a name to be referred to in the system.
Choose the appropriate Model of the printer you've purchased or received. This will determine certain formatting styles for the receipts that print. If the wrong type is chose for the printer you're using, receipts may be printing out with the wrong layout and format.
Assign the IP address of the printer that has been configured to the device. If you've purchased this printer from Toast, it comes already configured with this address and there is a label taped to the printer you've received. The format is generally xxx.x
xx.xxx.xxx where the xs are numbers.
If this is a Kitchen Printer, you can designate the font size of the kitchen tickets. This will not affect payment receipts, that font size is not currently configurable.
You can select a backup printer so that if for whatever reason a print job fails at this printer, it will failover to another printer in your store.
If the printer is connected to a physical Cash Drawer, select that at this configuration option.
Below that you can configure the default starting balance of the drawer attached to this printer.
Reset Balance Type determines how a new drawer will be created when you close one instance of the drawer out during the business day.
Automatic - A new drawer will automatically be created by the closing of this drawer being closed using.
Manual - An additional step is required to create a new version of this drawer when you have closed one out.
If there are two drawer attached to a single drawer, you'll simply double the effort here. One drawer being the Primary and the other being the Secondary.
