There are currently several ways by which your customer can be found in the Rewards Program so that they can earn and redeem their points. Looking them up by name or email is an elective lookup process the customer has mentioned they have an account or you have asked the customer if they are registered.
There are some cases where they will be located automatically
1. A credit card linked to their Rewards Account being swiped for payment will tie the transaction to their account without having looked them up before swiping.
2. A gift card has been used previously when the customer registered for Rewards - this means the gift card is now also a physical Rewards Card.
*If they have not verified their credit card via the original welcome email they received, this swipe will only earn new points, it will not prompt for redemptions until the card is verified.
In general, best practice would be to ask each customer before taking the payment if they are a Rewards Member so that they can potentially be looked up by Name, Email or if they have the QR Code saved on their phone to present to the POS for scanning.
