Toast POS is built with the need for training in mind. Test mode is the ability to take your exact restaurant- settings, menus, and all and turn it from a live location to a practice simulated version for training new employees or testing different settings.
Enable test mode from the POS by scrolling down to the Setup section and selecting 'Enable Test Mode.' You will get a pop-up like this:
Please note from above: If enabled on one device, the entire restaurant will be placed in test mode as enabling test mode is not device specific. For this reason, it is best to avoid enabling test mode during service since it could easily be mistaken for live mode.
If you have enabled test mode temporarily to conduct training or place test orders, these orders will be automatically purged from your sales history and the app when you disable test mode later on.
On the other hand, if you enabled test mode during your service- by mistake or otherwise, any orders placed and payments taken will be removed upon disabling test mode. It is very important to use this feature when you need to and to do so carefully.
