In addition to the SEND button, you can enable a STAY button, which will allow servers to send the unsent items on a check, while keeping them on the ordering screen to continue entering items on the check to be sent next.
Lot’s of our Full Service customers have been asking for this because it will save them time -- 3 screen taps per table!
Large tables, large orders, multiple courses? Get those orders into the kitchen asap!
Send the drinks to the bar while this party of 20 figures out what they want to eat. This will reduce taps, reduce the need to lookup checks and thus save time!
For Table Service Mode, the SEND and STAY buttons are visible by default in 2.0.
For Quick Service Mode, you can configure the buttons through the steps below:
To setup, navigate to UI OPTIONS under Other Setup on www.toasttab.com.
Check the box for STAY for the configuration of Show Send/Hold/Stay Buttons?
In the Toast POS App, the ordering screen will appear like this:
The "Two Egg Special" has not been sent to the kitchen.
To send the item but stay on the check, use the STAY.
Previous to this addition, the SEND button would send the order to the Kitchen, but take the server to a new, blank order.
In Toast v2.1 we have added the ability to control the behavior of the Pay Button which has acted as an order-sending function.
For Quick Service customers this previously allowed orders to be sent to the kitchen for preparation before the payment was fully processed, which caused issues to some.
Now, from the UI Options setup page, you can enable the Pay button to only send the order after the payment for the order is compete and successful.
To enable, check the YES option. Save and Publish to make this change live in the POS.
