Starting with version 1.17 Toast supports customer displays.
Which displays are supported?
The POSX XP8200. It is an LCD pole display on a swiveling stand that connects to your tablets via standard USB 2.0.
What information is displayed?
Currently, When the display is activated and no check is open on the screen, a Welcome to (Restaurant) message is displayed. The name of your restaurant can be edited in Restaurant info.
When a check is open on your screen, you will see the total balance remaining on the check, including taxes and discounts.
When payment is accepted, a message will be displayed that says, "Thank you! Payment received." There is currently no setting to change the displayed message within Toast.
Are they touch enabled?
No, currently the Toast hardware that is supported are USB peripherals with a hard display. If you would like your customers to sign their check you will still need to use the digital receipt options on the tablet.
Where is the power cord?
The display is powered through the USB connection, there is no external power source.
What do I need to do from a software setup?
Nothing. Version 1.17 will automatically recognize the display and prompt you to remember the USB connection like Toast will prompt when a USB credit card reader is connected. If you did not accept the USB permission, simply unplug and replug in the display.
