In the majority of cases, your delivery customers will call in with orders for themselves or their group. In some cases you may have customers order for someone else. If your customer's delivery address is different from the billing address, there are options in which the billing address can be entered before or after taking the delivery address.
With Toast you can set up 3 different options. The first option is the default where only one address is asked for and the billing customer and delivery customer are the same. This will cover the vast majority of cases, but should only be selected if you never have customers who will place orders for other customers.
In order to set up these new options, navigate to the Take Out / Delivery options in the Other Setup section.
It will be in the top section. The second option is labeled "Always Prompt for customer information prior to delivery customer information." This will ask you for the billing information first. Billing information will not ask for an address, but will ask for first name, last name and phone number. If this customer already has a customer profile in your system, that profile will pop up so that you can select them. The third option will prompt you for the delivery customer first and the billing customer second.
In both cases, the order will be added to the billing customer's order history, not the delivery customer's.
In this example the customer's phone number was entered into the search box and is highlighted in blue.
After you select a first customer (or enter a new customer) you will then be taken to the second screen, in this case the delivery customer. The first customer that you selected will also be the suggested customer on the second screen.
If you do need to change the delivery address, simply clear the search box and search for a different customer. In this case the customer that was searched for did not have a profile so their information was added.
The second option will look exactly the same, but the first customer will be the one shown on the delivery address, and the second customer will have their order history updated.
