Pairing the Bluetooth Reader with the Tablet:
In order to pair the Magtek Bluetooth reader with your Android device, ensure that both the reader and tablet are powered on. The reader will have a flashing green indicator light when powered on.
From Android Settings under the Connections section of your tablet, ensure that Bluetooth is Enabled (pictured below) on the left hand side of the screen.
When Bluetooth is enabled and the reader is powered on, your tablet will Scan for available Bluetooth devices with which to pair. The Magtek reader will appear on the list as "MAGTEK" followed by its Serial Number. In this example below, it is MAGTEK-B29AB92.
Select your reader from the list of available devices to pair.
Each reader requires a PIN to be entered on the tablet in order to pair the two devices with each other.
Enter 1234 as the PIN.
If the PIN was entered correctly, the device name will now appear on the right-hand side of the screen under Paired Devices.
Toast Device Setup
Now that the reader and tablet are paired together via Bluetooth, the Toast POS app must be properly enabled to use the reader with Toast.
From the main Toast menu, find and select Device Setup
Select Card Reader Model from the list to choose which reader model to use with this device.
Lastly, ensure that MagTek BulleT (Bluetooth) is selected as the card reader mode.
Once selected, tap anywhere outside the Card Reader Model box to exit and then use the Toast icon in the top-left to leave Device Setup and return to the Main Menu.
When paired properly using the steps outlined in this article, an icon in the top left corner of the screen will appear.
If it is GRAY, the reader my have powered itself off after inactivity - simply turn the reader back on using the power button on the front and wait for the blinking green indicator light.
If it is YELLOW, the reader may have lost its pairing - run through the above steps to ensure it is paired still or re-pair the devices if necessary.
If it is GREEN, the reader is ready to be used. This icon will only appear GREEN when viewing an order that has a balance due or from the payment screen of an order with a balance due. If any other screens of Toast are being used, the reader may be paired correctly, but not ready for payment based on what is being viewed. In these cases, the icon will most commonly appear GRAY
