It is quite common for customers to pay with multiple payment types to satisfy their bill.
Example: The customer has a gift card with a small value they would like to use up and pay cash or credit card for the remainder.
Toast POS handles this is like most other POS systems. The app assumes that the full amount is being tendered when the payment type is selected unless it is given information before the payment is taken.
To handle this transaction correctly in Toast the user must enter the partial amount being tendered before selecting a payment type.
From the Pay screen of Toast, enter the partial amount in the "Amount Tendered" field above the keypad.
Select the payment type being used for the partial payment. Toast will as the user to verify that they intend to take only a partial payment.
With the partial payment complete, there will be a void, receipt, and no receipt option.
Then, the Pay screen shows the remainder due in red. This check remains in Open status until the balance due is paid in full.
