Modifiers & Modifier Groups
Modifiers are used to customize items by providing additional options. The example below shows the modifier groups enabled for a Latte from the sample menu.
Once an option under Drinks -> Coffee & Tea -> Espresso is selected, the modifier groups Milk Choice and Espresso Mods are available to choose options from.
The options (skim, 2%, whole, etc.) are modifiers under the Milk Choice modifier group.
Creating modifiers starts with creating a Modifier Group. These are created in much the same way as creating Menus, Groups and Items, and can be added, deleted, renamed and re-ordered in the same way.
In addition, you can specify whether or not the user is required to make a selection from the group, whether multiple Modifiers can be selected for a single group, the number of options that can be selected, and whether or not selecting duplicate modifier options is allowed.
Once you create your Modifier Groups, and hit Save, you can then click through on the group to add the individual Modifier Options.
Modifier groups contain properties where you can establish the pricing method, force modifier selection and multi-selection limits.
Customization of Modifiers in POS
Customizing modifiers for your business needs can be done in several ways
Default Modifiers can be set for items with an already selected list of modifiers. For menu items with common modifiers, a default modifier list may improve POS entry. This feature can be found in UI Options as shown here:
Modifier Group Sorting will list modifiers on the order in a specific order regardless of which order the modifiers were added. This is helpful when the order of modifiers is important for order prep stations. This feature can be found in the UI Options as show here:
Hide Modifier Prices will enable receipts to avoid showing modifier prices but the total item reflects the added modifier.
