Using Revenue Centers in Toast can provide insightful breakdowns of where throughout the business the sales are happening. While Sales Categories are tied to actual Menus and Menu Items, Revenue Centers are tied to Service Areas or specific Toast POS devices.
Toast provides users the ability to draw table maps of all of the dining areas (Service Areas). If Revenue Centers have been created, then each Service Area can be assigned one Revenue Center. Once assigned, all orders from that Dining Area are reported into that Revenue Center.
For Quick Order customers, Revenue Centers can also be utilized by configure one or more Toast POS devices to report into a Revenue Center. This is done using the Device Setup section of the Toast App.
Setting up a Revenue Center
To add or edit Revenue Centers, click the Revenue Center section of Other Setup on the Toast Home Screen:
In this example, no Revenue Centers have been setup.
Click the +Add button to create and name an entry.
Once you have created a Revenue Center and saved it, it is now available to be assigned to one or more of your Service Areas.
Accessing Service Areas
From the Toast Home Screen, Click Service Areas under Setup on the Restaurant Home screen:
From this screen a manager is able to:
- Move an area up or down the list
- Mark one Service Area as the "Primary Service Area" - meaning all tablets will default to this Dining Option when entering Table Service)
- Delete a Service Area
- Add a Service Area
- Enter the setup page of any existing Service Area
- SAVE changes
The blue text in each row on this page are all links to the setup page for that individual Service Area.
Assigning Revenue Centers
To assign a Revenue Center, click the blue text of the Service Area to reach the Setup Page.
From the setup page, select the drop-down menu next to Revenue Center and make your selection. In the example below, it is the only option so far.
(repeat this process for each Service Area)
Revenue Centers in Reporting:
Just like how Sales Categories help show which types of Menu items sell better, Revenue Centers help highlight on Reports which areas of the restaurant are most profitable.
Clicking the REVENUE CENTERS tab of Sales Report shows this relationship between Sales Category (Left) and Revenue Centers (Top). Total sales for each Sales Category (bold figures right side), total sales for each Revenue Center (bold figures bottom) and each Sales Category in each Revenue Center are shown (normal figures in the table).
Assigning Device to Revenue Center
From the main Toast menu, select Device Setup:
On the next screen tap Revenue Center
Last, select the Revenue Center for this device
Please note that changes to the Revenue Center will take effect immediately, including on orders that are currently being edited or entered.
